'Why There Are Words' in San Francisco
I was lucky enough to read at the December 14, 2017 session of Why There Are Words in Sauselito, CA. What a wonderful experience, and what a great venue for writers and readers. The Bay-area event is held in an art gallery near the waterfront. It's a great setting for aesthetics--sound carries well, the art on the walls and high ceilings add to the ambience, and there's plenty of room.
As you can see from the above photo, we had an excellent audience. Eight writers of poetry and fiction read, and sales of signed books were brisk.
My brother Scott, author of the critically acclaimed Coswell's Guide to Tambralinga, stacked the audience with his friends to make sure I had allies if people started throwing things during my reading. They didn't, and Scott's and Leah's friends were great company.
